Our story began as a thought. What are the necessary conditions for the fulfilment of humankind’s potential? In a way, our family was asking this question for as long as we can remember. Dr. Gemechis Mamo is a renowned Internal medicine specialist with over 25 years of experience and over 50,000 patients committed to him in those years. By his patients, he is known to care beyond the visit and would mostly be serving the whole family. Many would attest to his unwavering principle of treating his patients’ overall physical, mental and social health. Some of the 50,000 patients come to him to just talk. He believes in listening and providing takes that are very personal to his patients’ lives. Most of all, Dr. Gemechis is a family man; a husband and father more than anything. This core belief in the concept of family as a foundation has been the pool of positive energy he dips into to care for his patients and their families. Dr. Mulualem Gessesse is the foremost Neonatologist in our country responsible for saving tens of thousands of newborns directly through her touch and millions indirectly through her teachings, systems and inspiration. Since childhood, she has been the primary caretaker of her family. When she went to Cuba for her education, she inherited full parental responsibility for her younger sister and brother. She developed her caring personality from a really young age. After she finished her doctoral degree, until this day and for many more years to come, her priority remains ‘kids’. She gives love to kids, she treats as if she was their only parent. That sense of ‘only parent’ responsibility she had over her younger siblings when she grew up translates to the dedicated care she delivers to her patients. Over her almost two decades journey in newborn health, she has accumulated so much love and attachment from all the kids that would have probably not seen the second month of their lives if she wasn’t there. She believes in giving love through effort. She is not a woman of words and she thinks that is what excites her about working with children. “Most of my patients don’t talk yet and none of them lies,” she says. With these two people imagining a fulfilled world, their kids could not grow up farther from that dream. We became a family obsessed with making life better for our surroundings. We had an abundance of love within our family and we desperately wanted to share that with the world. Mulu-G was born out of that purpose. “Fulfilment of Humankind’s Potential”. A motto we lived by without truly knowing we lived by it. Mulu-G Health Services was born in 2012 under the name ‘Dr. Gemechis Mamo Higher Clinic’. We have gone a long way from our first location in Lancia. In 10 short years we were able to grow from one specialist to ten specialists, one specialty to three specialties, from zero beds to twenty-five beds, from ten employees to over one hundred employees, from a small villa to a four-story building, from treating patients at just the outpatient level to now being able to treat patients at inpatient, telemedicine and house call level; and most of all we went from seeing just adults to now being able to treat the whole family. We are proud to say that we are now striving to deliver comprehensive, convenient, customized and continuous care for the physical, mental and social health of the individual and the family for the fulfillment of their potential.
